Digital Nomads

Are you considering a move or have you just moved to a new country and are looking for a job?

Luckily, finding a regular job that includes commuting and spending the day in an office cubicle is not the only option anymore.  Modern job seekers are looking for financial independence, better work/life balance and flexible working hours. They want to choose where and when they work and live: Welcome to the age of digital nomads.

Digital nomads or “location-independent workers” have left traditional cubicles and commutes, thanks to high-speed Wi-Fi and web-based work. This allows workers the freedom to travel or live remote places while continuing to engage in meaningful employment.

While many enjoy the comfort of working from home, others take advantage of Wi-Fi connected spots, such as cafes and co-working spaces. Co-working spaces can be an important part of the digital nomad’s work experience as a place to meet people, network, observe local business culture, begin initiatives, organize events, and launch start-ups. Beyond logistical support, co-working spaces can offer camaraderie to independent professionals who prefer to work among peers rather than from the isolation of home.

The number of professions that allow location independence is increasing. Professions in IT and Communications are often easily adaptable to nomadic arrangements, but there is growing acceptance in numerous fields, from Education to Health Care to data analytics.

Being able to work remotely allows the opportunity to retain current employment when moving abroad. There are many people working remotely for companies back home. This can make the transition to a new place easier. You can focus on getting to know a new place and the people and culture without having to prove yourself anew with a new company, in a new business culture, often in a foreign language environment.

There is a global community of digital nomads, with online and offline meetups to support you! Join the global digital nomad community and help, in the words of WeWork, “create a world where people make a life, not just a living.”

  1. I been a digital nomad for 6 years now, and I am never going back to a 9-5 job again. 🙂
And I sure hope more people will be able to enjoy this lifestyle, and your site seem to be a good resource. Keep up the great work!
