Starting a career abroad is considered by many as one of the most rewarding decisions someone could have in their lifetime. Some people may decide to look for a job before making the move, while others, in the case of trailing spouses, will have to start building their careers once they have arrived to their new home. If that’s the case, this post is for you.

In this week’s blog post I’ll be sharing three out of six international jobs you may not have considered during your time in your new “home.” Some of these jobs will require you to apply to a company that offers job seekers that specific job opportunity, while others will require you to build a consultant home-based business for you to be able to successfully perform the tasks. Either way, by considering one of these job opportunities you’re not only opening yourself to new experiences and challenges but also taking advantage of the chance to create a new career that will make your new home more enjoyable and exciting
Job 1: Fundraising Coordinator
Working as a Fundraising Coordinator could help you in providing a personalized service to entities that may need a helping hand putting together a successful fundraiser to achieve a goal. In order for you to be successful in this position, you will be required to establish a plan by putting together ideas, resources, and possible contacts that could help you create a well-prepared and realistic fundraising activity to support your client’s needs.
Job 2: Self-Help Grant Coordinator
If helping other home-based business owners is something that makes you feel good about yourself, working as a Self-Help Grant Coordinator could be a great opportunity for you to put business owners in contact with companies that offer grants to help them expand their businesses. To be successful in this job, you’ll need to build a contact list of the companies that offer grants to business owners and develop a marketable strategy to put business owners in contact with these companies.
Job 3: Cyber Security Strategy Consultant
If you’re an experienced IT person, working as a Cyber Security Strategy Consultant for companies in need could be a great opportunity for you to put your knowledge to use. By offering your IT experience to these companies, you’ll be helping them reduce cyber risks by creating a well-developed plan to help them fight cyber-related incidents, which could include data breaches, espionage, cyber attacks, and other serious cyber related threats. To be successful in this particular job, you will have to possess the required knowledge and, in most cases, proper certification/training related to the specific tasks that you will be working on.
There you have it. These jobs, as unconventional as they may seem, could offer you the opportunity to start a successful new career at your new place of living. I know that starting a career in a new place could bring people a lot of concerns and uncertainties. Believe me, I know how it feels because I have been doing exactly that for the past 20 years. But I also know that opening yourself to new ideas and new opportunities could bring you a lot of joy and a lot of excitement.
Before I conclude, I would like to add that some international companies may already have positions like the ones mentioned in this post available for you, but if that’s not the case, and doing these type of jobs is something that you are really interested in, you can also build a home-based business and offer the services as a Consultant/Contractor.
