6 Coveted International Jobs You Don’t Know About Yet (Part 2)

Welcome back, Passport Career friends. This is Marielys again with part two of “6 Coveted International Jobs You Don’t Know About Yet”. In this post, I am going to discuss the last three international jobs you may not have considered doing during your time in your new “home.”

Job 4: Recycling Coordinator

Working as a recycling coordinator could be a great experience as well as a rewarding opportunity. Being able to use your skills and abilities could bring a lot of joy and satisfaction into your life and into the lives of those around you, not only because you will be helping the environment, but also because you could be providing a valuable contribution to countries/people who may not be up to date with the recycling “rules” and who could use your recycling expertise to make their place of living a more enjoyable and “green” one for themselves and for future generations.

Job 5: Model

I am sure that after you read this job title, you will be asking yourself – she wants me to be a what? A model? Is she crazy? No, let me tell you that I am not crazy. Consider this for a minute. You are living in a place where everyone is blonde and here you are, a beautiful dark haired expat with a completely different look than most of the people around you. Why not take advantage of that and show your new country how beautiful, exotic, and diverse you are? Go ahead and sign up with a modeling agency and see what happens. My daughter did it, and she ended up getting hired to do a photo shoot for a very important local magazine here in Zimbabwe. Not bad for a first time model, don’t you think?

And last, but not least;

Job 6: Travel Coordinator

Living abroad has many advantages, and being able to see and live in a country that most people dream of visiting, and being able to give them a realistic view and idea of what the country is all about is by far one of those benefits. Imagine if instead of using Facebook to tell your friends about your new country of living, you decide to create an online travel business to help friends, family, and other interested travelers with their travel arrangements. Doesn’t that sound like a great way for you to spend your time abroad? Working as a travel coordinator will require you to do extensive research about popular tourist places, available hotels in your area, as well as any important travel information (e.g., visas, required immunizations, etc.), but once you get all that sorted out, your ability to help people arrange their travels will not only help you earn some money, but it will also help you help travelers to have a well-planned trip without having to spend time doing the research and travel planning themselves. The truth is that people love to go on vacation and not having to worry about the little details of their trip is one of the best ways for them to actually start enjoying the actual trip.

There you have it. These jobs, including the ones mentioned in my previous post, are six of the many unconventional jobs out there in the international job market. If after learning about them you find yourself wondering if you have what it takes to perform one of them, I will say, stop doubting yourself and give one of these jobs a try. Who knows, maybe this could be the start of a new path in your professional life. The truth is that you will never know if you are the perfect fit for the job unless you push yourself to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Like a wise man once said: “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” – Neale Donald Walsch

See you next week with my next post where I discuss 5 common ways that global employers interview candidates abroad. In the mean time, visit the Global Topics section of your Passport Career system for additional tips to help you strategically plan your career and life transition.

For now, I will say – “Hasta la vista, amigos.”
